GROUNDS AND NURSERY: The house 'Apple Court' was originally the apple store of nearby Yeatton House. In 1950 the apple store was converted into a squash court and then in the 1960's it was subsequently converted into a residence, hence its name. The gardens were created in 1988 in the then abandoned walled kitchen garden and extend to approximately one acre of rich and loamy soil, approximately 10m above sea level.
The design of the garden forms a break against the coastal winds, the sea being less than a mile away. It has been segmented into areas, each giving a different visual effect and creating appropriate microclimate for plants in each particular area. The overall effect is a garden in which different areas succeed each other, through the year. The grounds also contain Cottage and Japanese gardens, the latter containing a large Koi carp pond. There are various walks, borders, walls, seats and features. The adjoining nurseries and sales room extend to just over one acre and currently specialises in the sale and export of rare plants.
