The East Sussex town has a rich heritage which is steeped in legends and myths from the surrounding areas. Nan Tuck’s ghost and the disappearance of Lord Lucan are two of the most popular fables that help to create a real sense of authenticity throughout Uckfield.

In contrast to the town's mysterious past, there are a plenty of present day facilities to occupy your time. The village has a number of leisure centres that provide a host of exercise classes and other services. A local cinema is also present in the town, giving film fanatics the chance to catch all the latest releases.

A number of small shops are situated around the town centre, meaning residents do not have to travel far for their weekly shop. As well as plenty of local shops, there is also a larger Tesco located in Ucksfield.

Parent’s who are relocating with children will be happy to know that the area contains a number of schools. There are five primary schools for younger children and the Uckfield Community Technology College for those of secondary school age.

The close proximity of the schools with the town centre means that the school run becomes a much easier endeavor for parents.

Uckfield’s surround area is full of nature reserves and places of scenic beauty. Nearby Hempstead Meadow provides fresh-air-seeking families a place to discover local wildlife on one of the various river walks.

Other local reserves include West Park, an area of ancient parkland which is home to wildlife and the ruins of a Mesolithic village.

Transport links to London are available through the Southern rail line. A total of 20 bus services all operate in and around the Uckfield area, meaning travel to the rest of the UK is relatively hassle free.
