Seasonal price rises driven by property in the south

Prices of properties for sale with estate
agents are rising throughout the UK, with February proving to
be a positive month, building on the strong start to 2013 seen a
month earlier.
A recent study from Nationwide showed that the price of homes in
February had climbed by 0.2 per cent.
And now Hometrack has looked at where these increases are
occurring, reporting rises in as many as 14.8 per cent of postcode
regions across the country.
However, the best figures have come in the south-east and London,
with these two areas accounting for 74 per cent of all price
growth, according to the new report.
In London, 48 per cent of all postcode areas saw a rise in price,
while the same was said for 26 per cent of those in the
south-east.
A spokesman for Hometrack said: "Lack of supply and rising demand,
means that prices in those areas where there is the greatest
mismatch between buyers and sellers are seeing the strongest price
growth."
