Positive signs in homebuilder market
Government initiatives to stimulate the construction market are
beginning to filter through, according to an industry expert.
Describing the signs of an upturn in new house build registrations,
the head of communications at the Home Builders Federation (HBF)
called the signs "extremely positive".
Steve Turner said: "We have got to now ensure that the stimulus
measures put in place by the government are continued and that we
look to build on the stabilisation we have seen in recent
months."
Figures released by the National House-Building Council revealed
that the number of registrations to build new homes in October 2009
reached its highest level since July of the previous year.
In the two months between August and October, applications to build
new houses in the UK rose by 27 per cent compared with the same
time in 2008.
Mr Turner commented that the improvement across the market would
hopefully prove to be a stabilisation and that the sector will now
continue to grow.
