Landlords 'increasingly using video footage' in deposit disputes

Those operating in the buy-to-let industry are increasingly using
videos as evidence in deposit dispute cases, it has been
revealed.
According to government-approved tenancy deposit protection scheme
mydeposits.co.uk, many landlords now realise that clear evidence is
required if they want to withhold part of a deposit when a tenancy
agreement comes to an end.
As a result, they are using video footage as a clear and effective
way of demonstrating a property's original condition.
Chief executive of mydeposits.co.uk Eddie Hooker said: "A well put
together video can really enhance the check in and check out
process. It lets both parties know exactly where they stand and
helps prevent disputes."
However, he explained that the solution should not act as a
substitute for traditional forms of evidence such as photographs,
receipts and inventories.
In other buy-to-let news, Let Insurance Services recently advised
landlords to take out insurance as there has been an increase in
the number of rental arrears in the UK.
